Every great story begins with a vision.
1929 – Otto Durst founded his company in a small workshop in Germany. His mission was simple yet ambitious: to make life easier by creating a better way to clean the hot plates of the hearth. After countless experiments, the first “Grüne Kegel” (Green Cone) was born – a breakthrough that marked the beginning of a legacy. By June 1929, production of the Green Cone began, and the company became known as The Chemical Factory of Otto Durst. This was more than a business – it was the start of a tradition of excellence.
1932 – The first “Weiße Kegel” (White Cone) expands the product range.
1934 – First filling of Stove-top cleaner "Edelglanz" into tubes
A new era begins: the stove-top cleaning paste is filled into tubes and marketed as “Edelglanz” (Premium Shine). Later renamed “Edel-Chromglanz”, this product evolves into today’s global icon: DURSOL Metal Polish.
1949 – The Second Generation
After the war, Elisabeth Durst takes the helm, guiding the company into a new era. Her leadership transforms a local workshop into an international brand, built on trust, quality, and innovation.
A NEW BRAND IS BORN
The 1950s marked a turning point. With the rise of the automobile industry, DURSOL introduced AUTOSOL Edel-Chromglanz – a product designed for car enthusiasts who demanded nothing less than perfection.
1950 | AUTOSOL Edel-Chromglanz enters the market and quickly gains national and international recognition.
1953 | AUTOSOL® becomes a registered international brand.
1955 | AUTOSOL® debuts at the International Automotive Exhibition (IAA) in Frankfurt.
1959 | The product portfolio expands with the AUTOSOL® Car Care Series, setting new standards in automotive care.
1968 | DURSOL® develops and produces the first products designed for the automatic car wash market.
1988 | Dr. Andreas Durst takes the helm, ushering in the third generation of family leadership.
1996 – 2019 | The portfolio grows to include Marine Care, Motorbike Care, Industrial Cleaners and CROLDINO® Skin Care.
2022 – Introducing World’s first Natural Metal Polish.

Suitable for metals such as stainless steel, aluminium, chrome, brass, copper, etc. The polish contains no aggressive chemicals and is therefore better for you and our planet.
